The Enduring Emperor

Iron Frequencies have a exceptional big picture vision, and the attention to detail to make their visions a reality.  They have incredibly high standards, and strive for excellence in all things.  They are comfortable with working hard towards their goals and visions, and often play the long game, understanding that high quality things take time.  They are people whose work, when they deem it complete, is exceptional.

Prince, was a Foundational Iron Frequency.  His pursuit of perfection was well documented, and often translated to actual perfection in his wide ranging musical career.  He lived his life making his visionary dreams a reality, from changing his name to a symbol to becoming one of the most iconic performers, ever.

He was also a fan of the television show New Girl, and pitched a guest star role where he helped the lead characters realize their feelings for each other.  After his passing, showrunner Liz Meriwether wrote an essay detailing what it was like to work with Prince.  In her essay she details his obsession with making the episode good, including his almost leaving the episode all together because of a suggested change in the script which didn’t fit his vision.

She writes “I realized we were just two people who were both obsessed with making the episode good. His vision of the episode was all-encompassing…I got to observe the way he worked. I got to observe the rigor and the care that he put into every detail, every word, every moment.

He was an artist down to the bone. It’s not enough to have extraordinary vision; you have to know how to turn that vision into something that exists in the very flawed, complicated world of human beings and money and phone calls.”

This incredible vision and obsessive commitment to greatness, down to the smallest details, are hallmarks of the Iron Frequency.  While trying to mere mortals, Irons feel that there’s no point creating a vision if you’re not going to see it through.  The phase “done is better than perfect” is the opposite of their life philosophy.

If Iron shows up in your Frequency, find ways to put your big picture and small detail vision to good use — dream big, help others make long term plans, but don’t forget to enjoy the present moment.  Sometimes Irons can be so focused on future successes and endeavors they forget to enjoy right now.
